Winter Visitors

We seldom get snow of any depth, so when we had 3" of snow just after Christmas 2003 we seized the first opportunity to prowl about the land looking for animal tracks to get a better idea of what's roaming around out there. Much to our surprise we came across bear tracks. This is one of the best photos I got; unfortunately, the picture does not include anything that can give you an idea of the scale. The track is 8 to 10 inches long and 6 to 8 inches wide. The dogs have been inside most of the time recently due to Auggie's injured leg, so they have not been doing their job chasing away the wildlife.
