Many have been the derisory diatribes directed against political correctness. I shall add my contribution to the avalanche of complaints with this little jewel I found hiding in my archives. This is a very close facsimile of a photocopy I have, taken from a genuine scholarly journal. The photocopy is rather faded now, so I typed it all up by hand, taking great pains to make the facsimile as close as possible in terms of fonts, formatting, and so forth. Be assured that, with the single deletion of the Chinese characters for the author's name, this is a textually accurate reproduction of the first page of the paper. Anybody who (quite understandably) doubts the accuracy of this facsimile is invited to look up the original; the reference information is at the top of the page.
Academic readers would be well advised to keep this paper in the back of their minds. This is what can happen to scholarly pursuits under the wrong circumstances.
