The Flight of the Iguana

By David Quammen

David Quammen is the best nature writer in the country; I have read and enjoyed several of his other books such as Song of the Dodo and Monster of God, but I apparently never reviewed them. This is another collection of essays from a magazine he wrote for.

The first half of the book is, as with his other books, excellent. However, in the latter half Mr. Quammen apparently had to scrape the bottom of the barrel and include essays that were less about nature and more about his personal experiences, which I did not find as interesting. I recommend that readers check out the previous two books before looking at this one.
